I am writing to ask your help with a tragedy that has befallen one of my fans. I recently got an email regarding 10 pit bulls which have been neglected and abused. Now, I know some of you may not love pit bulls, but I rescued a pit bull a while ago and he is the sweetest, most loving animal ever. So, I really believe its not the dog that's bad, but the owner. I have found out that gang members go to animal rescue shelters to get pit bulls to train them to be mean, and the majority of them are not aggressive at all. The gang members get angry when the dogs are not mean or aggressive and then they will kill them. THIS IS HORRIBLE and yet it seems to be an epidemic that is happening all over the country with these animals.
Now I what I found out is there are 10 dogs all living in the same residence in one cramped back yard. It is a fan who has made this known to me. The dogs are living adjacent from him in a older house in Tennessee. The owner is not fit to keep them and has chained 3 of them up in the backyard with no water or food. There are 3 more in cages on the deck and they also have not been fed nor watered. There are 4 more that are allowed to run free in the yard and in the house where they scrounge for food, and defecate, which is not cleaned up and creates a smell. There is poop everywhere in the yard that is unsanitary and has not been removed by the owners. The dogs are basically laying in their own waste.
Apparently it was the intent of the owner to breed the dogs and sell them for money. The dogs have not found owners and when a potential buyer sees them they look sickly and un-lively. We found out that due to ill treatment two of the dogs have died in the last week. The owner instead of giving him a proper burial, attempted to burn their bodies in a bonfire, and when that failed, threw it over the fence into the neighbors backyard. Since then, the other dog has been buried in a shallow grave on the property. Other neighbors in the area have noticed the smell of burning dog and fecal matter and mass of dogs barking and have called Animal Control.
If something is not done to help these pit bulls, they are going to be euthanized. The dogs are very sweet and nice and did nothing to deserve the ill treatment that they have received. The Animal Control have allowed the pit bulls one week of rescue attempts before they come to take them, so if we want to save the dogs we have to do it now. There is a pit bull rescue center in the area; however, there is a supply issue with the rescue center.
The shelter will take the dogs, but the dogs need kennel crates to transport and hold the dogs and also funding for medical attention and supplies including adequate food for 10 dogs. The Animal shelter has estimated that they need around $5000.00 to save the dogs. I am asking you now to do whatever you can. Every little bit helps. Our Paypal account will go straight to fund the pit bull facility. Anything that you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. I know I am a dog lover so to hear this story really got me upset.
